Several people from Faithful Word Baptist Church and Verity Baptist Church will be participating in a 40-day revival taking place at New Testament Baptist church in Guyana, South America, in January and February of 2017. Yes, you read that right—they are having a 40-day revival! New Testament Baptist Church is pastored by Pastor Ram Angad and is located just outside of Georgetown, Guyana.
The 40-Day Revival will take place from January 25th to March 5th, and they expect to run about 200-300 people each night because they heavily promote these types of events and offer food and transportation.
I met Brother Ram about a month ago, while on an evangelistic trip to Guyana with Brother Rob and Brother Shane. While we were down there, we spent a lot of time with Pastor Ram, and he showed us how to get a speaking engagement in a public school there since he had preached in schools before. He shared the YouTube video of me preaching in the school, and his supporting churches have been giving him flak ever since. Apparently, after seeing a video of the Gospel being presented to hundreds of students, all these pastors can think about is our doctrinal difference on end times prophecy!
The ringleader seems to be a pastor by the name of Dewey Williams. This guy is really big on Zionism and the pre-trib rapture and is very upset with Pastor Ram for associating with me. He has canceled Pastor Ram’s support, gotten him thrown out of his missions board, and even threatened to cancel the support of some of his friends who are also missionaries. Dewey Williams and his buddies must hate me even more than they supposedly want to see people saved.
They wanted Pastor Ram to make a video denouncing me as a false teacher and embracing the pre-trib rapture. Since Pastor Ram refuses to do that, he is going to lose most of his financial support. Please pray for Pastor Ram as he plans to go forward with the Second Annual 40-Day Revival in spite of the financial setbacks.
Evidently, the same people who are now turning against Pastor Ram are the same ones who were going to be his guest speakers at the revival. Out of the five guest preachers from the United States who were planning on coming, four of them have backed out. Because of this, we are planning to stand in the gap and help fill the pulpit for Pastor Ram during this special event.
Brother Garrett Kirchway is excited about moving to Malawi, Africa, to start a church, but since he doesn’t go back to Malawi until April, he will be able to spend some time in Guyana helping Pastor Ram with the revival. Brother Garrett will be there in Guyana from Jan 11th to Feb 9th. In addition to preaching many nights during the revival, Bro. Garrett plans to do a lot of soul winning and also preach in some public schools there.
I just found out yesterday that Brother Matthew Stucky from Verity Baptist Church will also be there to preach from Feb 8th to Feb 21st, so I am excited to see how the Lord is going to use these great men of God during the revival. Other preachers, myself included, are still looking into possible travel arrangements, so we do not yet know the exact lineup yet of who all will be preaching.
Pastor Ram is a productive missionary who does a lot of soul winning, yet he is losing friends left and right and needs encouragement. Even before I heard about the 40-Day Revival, I had planned to return to Guyana. My vision for Guyana is that the Gospel would be preached in every high school in the country over the next two years. I think that is a very attainable goal, especially since several of us want to get involved. Preaching in public schools (in countries that allow us) is a great opportunity to reach the next generation with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and we need to take advantage of this wide-open door.
